Slow Down, and Let the Soul Bloom
Inspiration is never found within flowers alone.
It lives beside the light,
within the fragrance of the wind,
nd quietly draws near
the moment we are willing to slow down.
There was once a time when I hurried through every creation.
I wanted every arrangement to be perfect,
every lesson to be flawlessly prepared.
But the more I rushed,
the more I realised—
inspiration is like a flower;
when hurried, it struggles to breathe.
Later,
I learned to let go.
Sometimes,
I simply brew a cup of tea, watch the changing light beyond my window,
or quietly trace the delicate lines of a flower.
Then,
the feeling of wanting to create
gently emerges,
like the first shoots of spring.
In floral design,
waiting is one of the most important lessons.
Waiting for a flower to bloom.
Waiting for water to settle.
Waiting for leaves to unfold.
Every step has its own time.
In Japanese, there is a beautiful word:
「ゆっくり」(yukkuri)—
to slow down,
to take one's time.
It is not only a way of living,
but also a quiet way of being.
I often tell my students:
Learning a language is much the same.
Do not be afraid to forget,
and do not rush to memorise everything.
As long as you spend a little time with the language each day,
it will quietly take root within your heart.
Life is much like an unopened flower.
If we are willing to give it
time
and space,
it will naturally bloom
in its own season,
and in its own colours.
Slowing down is not falling behind.
It is allowing every moment
to become quietly fragrant.
For inspiration
does not need to be chased.
When the heart grows still,
it blossoms on its own.
